As I got older, especially after age 30, I noticed that even if I kept my eating habits the same, I seemed to gain several more pounds every couple of months. My clothes got tighter and tighter, and my confidence and self-esteem got lower and lower. It was official... I was overweight!

So like most people, I begrudgingly went on a "diet." My initial concept of a diet is more commonly known as STARVATION! The weight-loss, if any, was temporary and usually mostly water-loss... NOT body fat loss. And just like a text book case, I would always gain the weight back, PLUS MORE.

It quickly became a vicious cycle as I went from one diet to the next. Every new diet started with hope and promise, and ended with failure, despair, and hopelessness. It seemed like the harder I tried, the worse I failed, until finally I was ready to give up completely. "I guess I better just get used to being fat."
